Popperie Art

Iā€™m Jennifer, an artist and art teacher residing near St. Paul, MN. My passion is creating- whether it involves painting, weaving, knitting, crocheting, or dabbling in something new. As an art teacher of 24 years, I also enjoy leading others in the creative process, both in the classroom and through community murals. I am currently focused on painting with watercolors, and acrylic paints.

After receiving my art education degree at Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, I began teaching elementary art in the Twin Cities. My own art took a pause as I focused my efforts on teaching and raising a young family. I am now rededicating time to create my own art and share it with others.

My art is heavily influenced by my experiences, memories, travels with family, my home state of Minnesota, and my faith. I want to focus on the beauty and peace in nature and special places and add my own twist. This usually entails adding brighter, bolder colors. I love the joy and peace I find when creating.

I use these same bold and bright colors when creating murals and liturgical art installations. I love digging into text, thoughts and ideas and bringing these visual representations to life. I love seeing congregations or different groups of people come together, building community, while creating a masterpiece. Having 3-year-olds painting next to 93-year-olds is amazing!
